Educational information only. Diagnosis and treatment decisions are individualized. If you suspect sleep apnea, professional evaluation is important.
Could sleep apnea be affecting you?
Common signs include loud snoring, gasping, morning headaches, dry mouth, daytime fatigue, and trouble focusing.
Snoring
Snoring can be a signal of airway resistance and may warrant evaluation—especially if it’s loud or frequent.
Daytime fatigue
Non-restorative sleep can impact energy, mood, and productivity. Screening helps clarify next steps.
CPAP intolerance
If CPAP has been difficult, you may still have options. MAD therapy can be considered for appropriate patients.
Mandibular Advancement Device (MAD)
A custom oral appliance worn during sleep that can reduce snoring and improve obstructive sleep apnea in appropriate patients by helping maintain an open airway.
Benefits
- Comfortable and non-surgical
- Quiet, travel-friendly option
- Simple nightly routine
- Can be an alternative if CPAP is not tolerated (in certain cases)
Who may be a candidate?
- Snoring without sleep apnea
- Mild to moderate OSA in many situations
- Some patients with CPAP challenges
- Evaluation and records determine candidacy

FAQ
Is a MAD the same as a night guard?
No. MADs are designed to support the airway and differ from standard bite guards used for grinding.
How long does it take to get a device?
Typically a few visits from evaluation to delivery and adjustment, depending on your needs.
Will it cure sleep apnea?
Results vary. For appropriate patients, MAD therapy may significantly improve breathing during sleep. Reassessment may be recommended.
Important clinical notes
Treatment selection depends on diagnosis, severity, anatomy, and medical history. If you have a prior sleep study, bring it to your consultation.
If sleep apnea is suspected, testing and coordination with your medical provider may be recommended.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) occurs when the airway narrows or collapses during sleep, leading to breathing disruptions and fragmented rest. Snoring can be a sign of OSA, but not always.
Why evaluation matters
Daytime sleepiness, fatigue, and poor sleep quality can affect overall wellbeing and daily performance.
Testing & coordination
When indicated, we coordinate around existing sleep studies and collaborate with physicians as appropriate.
